Dance
is a personal and emotional art form. It allows a physically
creative way to express our thoughts and feelings as it touches
our hearts, and inner beliefs. Dance rejoices the threads of
our societies, diversified cultures and it can present a different
perspective of life. A language all its own, dance has historical
roots, meanings and is represented by every culture in the world.
Our
dance program at Cygnus brings the highest standards in teachings,
performances and exposure. Dance at Cygnus provides the students
with professional qualified teachers, solid technique, individual
attention, and a chance to explore, develop, and evolve into
a professional.
Our
students have attended esteemed summer institutes such as Alvin
Ailey, Pennsylvania Ballet, Walnut Hill, Princeton
Ballet
School,
Pittsburgh Youth Ballet School, Virginia School of the Arts
and Interlochen. Our students have graduated in higher education
as professional dancers, arts administrators, musical theatre
performers,
advertising directors, music educators, dance educators, and
the healing arts therapists.
Cygnus is THE place to study dance
for career, recreation, education and personal satisfaction.
PERFORMANCES
In recognizing the value of the performing experience, we
will be producing two
productions per year. These are cast by audition. Those
students who desire not to audition for any productions
may participate
in our annual Spring Recital
held in June. CLASS PLACEMENT.
All students are placed in a class according to their demonstrated
ability. It is understood that the student’s age and the number of years of training
do not always yield proficient execution of technique. Therefore, the class level
a student is placed is not to deter the student’s training; it is to bring
the students to their future class level.
Dance class etiquette
