Mission Statement
Cygnus Creative Arts Centre is a comprehensive arts facility,
offering programs for all ages and levels of experience
in a creatively dynamic environment.
Our primary goal is to
provide a complete study of the arts. Integration of the
disciplines is available for those who wish
to pursue professional careers or personal study.
Training in
the arts demands personal introspection, experimentation,
risk taking, and interaction with the world at large. Cygnus
serves as a guide and resource
in this creative discovery.

Brief History
In 1992, Cygnus was born from a concept developed by Maryann
Cannon and Cynthia M. Domino to create a total arts school
in the former McKee City School building
in Egg Harbor Township. Their perseverance, resources, dedication and sweat
equity transformed the school into a facility that meets the Township’s
needs.
After a year of development, Cygnus was incorporated as a
nonprofit corporation on August 6, 1993 and continues to offer
classes in dance, art,
drama, music
and voice under private instruction.
The organization was established to
foster the arts throughout the community and surrounding
areas by offering quality diversified programs with degreed
professional faculty and qualified professional guest artists.
The organizations
objectives are to: bring art into the community, offer
classes in all the arts to develop talent both young and
mature,
and
to bring the artist
into the community through collaborations, workshops, exhibitions,
and performances.
